Mumbai Experience

Hi all , I guess after 8 long months I am writing in this space. Finally I did get a call from TCS and after 4 and half months of “bajao” ing sessions , which in corporate jargon is called Initial Learning Program (yes daddy I’ve learnt to talk in corporate terms) I am now in Mumbai the city of dreams.

The Mumbai experience had its ups and downs but finally “all izz well”. The first few months its been a battle , a battle to board the local trains, a battle to find a shelter.

To start with the local trains, a battle will be a demeaning word for , it is a war out there. You will be really lucky to plant both ur feet in the dashboard of the train, half the time u will be hanging by the ever busy handles of the local train which has a bird eye view of the entire situation . Getting down is another phase of the war . If u r lucky enough to be seated u have to leave this heavenly pleasure now at this moment to be able to get down after 2 stations . But u should always remember the enemy is always at the gates. There will be horrendous crowd of beasts trying to enter into the the train while u try to get out of iron box.

The city to be frank has nothing in common with the slow paced lyf of Kolkata but somewhere u find a connection , u can feel to be part of this frenzy crowd. Every now and then u will come across bhaiya-bhoomi putra politics, blabbering MNS, agile dabbawalas, animated wada paws, crater like potholes, poker faced Sharad Pawar and the list goes on and on but with the time u will learn to enjoy these things.

The city is mad, mad about its own existence and this whole experience is somewhat maddening.

back home i was so certain
the path was very clear
but now i have to wonder: “what are we doing here?”
I'm not counting on tomorrow
and i can't tell wrong from right
but i'd give anything to be there in your arms tonight
